Mom's Pork Sausage Dressing
ingredients
- 1 bag croutons
- 1 pkg. unseasoned bulk pork sausage
- 1 stalk of celery (chopped)
- 1 large sweet or yellow onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp. sage
- 2 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 can chicken broth
- Giblet juice (optional)
- 1/4 lb. (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
directions
Saute the celery and onions in 1 stick of margarine in a pan. Add the pork sausage and cover, cooking until the pork is well cooked. Pour the mixture on the bread crumbs. Beat 1 egg and add to sausage mix, stirring well. Add 1/2 of the can of chicken broth. Add 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. sage, 2 tsp. poultry seasoning, and 1/2 tsp. black pepper. Check for moistness and add either more chicken broth or giblet juice as indicated. Stuff in turkey or bake in a casserole dish at 350° for 1 hour.
