Cabbage Rolls
ingredients
- 10 large whole cabbage leaves (probably need two heads of cabbage)
- SAUCE:
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 large sweet onion
- 28 oz of canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 C. brown sugar
- 1/4 C. red wine vinegar
- 2 cups water
- STUFFING:
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
- 1 Tbl. sea salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 2 garlic cloves, pressed
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 3/4 cup rice, cooked al dente and cooled
