Grammy's Dinner Rolls
Coleen’s Christmas Rolls
ingredients
- 4 Cups Boiling Water
- 2 Tbsp Salt
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Cup Shortening
- 4 pkgs dry yeast
- 1 Cup Warm Water
- 3 Eggs
- 16 1/4 cups Flour Unsifted
directions
Boil the water, salt, and sugar for 5 minutes. Add lard and cool. Have yeast soaked in warm water ready. Add 4 or more cups of flour to the cooled liquid before adding the softened yeast. This prevents the shortening from coating the yeast and hindering it’s working action. Add the yeast and then more flour. Beat Well. Add Eggs 1 at a time and then the rest of the flour. Knead dough 10 mins. Let rise again. Shape into a ball. Put in pans, cover with towel and let rise again. Bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.
