Unstuffing
This is a Thanksgiving stuffing that is not cooked in the bird.
ingredients
- 1/2 pound bluk italian sausage
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 3/4 cup chopped celery
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teas poultry seasoning
- 1/2 teas salt
- 1/4 teas pepper
- 6 cups unseasoned bread cubes
- 2 1/2 to 3 cups chicken broth

In a large skillet, brown sausage, drain. Add butter, mushrooms, celery and onion. Saute for 3 minutes until onion is tender. Stir in poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Transfer to a large bowl; add croutons and enough broth to moisten.

Bake in a greased 2 qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes.
