Ginger Creams
ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
directions
Cream together shortening and sugar; beat in egg. Stir in molasses. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately with water. Drop from teaspoon 2 in. apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees about 8 minutes. While warm frost with powdered sugar icing. Top with pecan halves. Makes 3 doz. (We usually double the recipe. Icing is not necessary.)
