Grandma Calles' Atole
When we were sick, Mama would fix this for us. I still use blue cornmeal says Junior.
ingredients
- Blue Corn Flour 1/4 Cup
- Water 1/2 Cup
- Salted Water 2 Cups Boiled
- Milk 2 Cups
- Salt 1/2 Teas.
- Sugar To Taste
directions
Dissolve atole flour in water in a medium sized saucepan. Add to boiling water and cook for 3 minutes at medium heat. Add the milk, sugar* and salt to the thickened mixture in a small saucepan and scald, but do not boil. *Atole may be served with sugar as a beverage or served with milk and sugar as a porridge.
