Play Dough

Amy GeeAmy Gee

This one is for the kids!

ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • flour for kneading
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • food colouring

directions

Put all ingredients into a pan and cook for about 3 minutes. Vary the colour of the dough by adding a drop of food colouring. When cooked remove from pan and knead into a ball. Sprinkle a little flour onto the surface where the dough is to be used. Allow a few minutes for the dough to cool before the child plays with it.

The dough will last for about a week if stored in a plastic container when not in use. Its life span will be greatly improved if hands are washed before use and if it manages to remain on the working surface. As if!!!

notes

My play dough was often a bit 'sticky' but it was still fun to play with. Hands needed to be washed AFTER playing with it!
