Down-Home Mac and Cheese
ingredients
- 6 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 all purpose flour
- 4 cups warm milk
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp fresh grated nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Dash salt and black pepper
- Dash hot sauce
- Dash Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 lbs cavatappi pasta, cooked al dente
- 1 cup crushed potato chips
- 5 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, for topping

Heat oven to 350°F

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add four and cook, stirring for 1 minute. Whisk in the warmed milk and bring to a boil, continue to whisk constantly. The mixture will thicken as the heat rises. Continue to stir while adding spices, hot sauce, Worcestershire. Stir in 3 cups of Cheddar until melted.

Pour the cheese sauce over the noodles and add to a casserole dish. Sprinkle with chips, bacon and Parmesan and bake 35 minutes.
