  • 4 cups fresh ripe strawberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups buttermilk

    Rinse, drain and hull berries. Add sugar and mash. Stir in buttermilk. Pour into 2 one-quart refrigerator trays and freeze firm. Break into chunks and beat until smooth.

    Return to tray and freeze until firm. You can cover the tray with aluminum foil so ice crystals keep smaller). Also you can use a blender throughout to mash berries and blend ingredients.

    You can also substitute peaches with lemon juice and raspberries for two other varieties.
