These are so easy and make quite a few. Freeze them way ahead of time for an easy appetizer, ready in a few minutes.

ingredients

  • 1 lb. sausage, cooked and drained
  • 1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 1 lb. Velveeta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 loaves of tiny rye bread (in deli case)

directions

Drain the meat well on paper towels. Place in a microwave safe bowl. Cut up cheese, add and melt in microwave, stirring well. Add seasonings. Spread a tablespoon of meat on each piece of bread. Place flat on cookie sheets and freeze quickly. When hard, you can store in a plastic bag until ready to serve. Then place under broiler until brown.

notes

You can use all ground beef or ground turkey if you prefer. Guests love these, but remember they're best when hot!
