BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

ingredients

  • 3/4 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter-flavored shortening
  • 1/4 C. buttermilk

    In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.

    Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5-7 times. Pat or roll out to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

    Place on a baking sheet coated with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
