The best thing that you will ever eat!!

ingredients

  • 5 cups bread cubes
  • 3/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup sausage
  • 12 mushrooms sliced
  • 1 turkey or chicken liver (cooked & chopped)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 6 tbsp. Madeira wine
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 (3 oz) cans water chestnuts, drained and sliced
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. sage

    Bake 5 cups of bread crumbs at 250°, turning frequently, until dried out and crisp, but not brown. Saute celery, sausage and mushrooms seperately in butter. Mix the bread cubes, celery, sausage, mushrooms and liver with remaining ingredients. Stuff turkey or chicken.

    This is more than enough for a 12 pound turkey or two 5 pound chickens. Put excess in foil and bake in oven with the turkey or chicken.
