• 1/2 cup softened butter
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 eggs
• 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 unbaked (9") pie shells
