Stuffed French Toast
Nice, “Do Ahead” breakfast item. Will serve a crowd.
ingredients
- 1 lg. loaf thick-sliced (Texas toast) white bread
- 1 doz. eggs
- 4 cups milk
- 1 8oz. pkg. cream cheese
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup butter/margarine - melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon

Lightly spray an 11/14 glass dish. Cut bread into 1-inch cubes; put half of bread in dish. Cut up cream cheese into 1/2 inch cubes; arrange cheese on top of bread. Cover with remaining bread.

In large mixing bowl, beat eggs with milk. Add melted butter & syrup. Pour mixture over bread & cheese, making sure all bread is wet. Cover loosely with/foil & refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 325. Remove foil & sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Bake for 45 minutes or until set in center.

Serve with warm syrup or powdered sugar.

Serve with bacon, sausage or ham along with fresh fruit for a complete brunch.
