Double Crust Pie Pastry
Buttery, flaky pie crust
ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup butter flavored shortening
- 8 to 10 tbsp cold water

Stir flour and salt together in a bowl

Cut in shortening

Sprinkle 1 tbsp water over mixture, toss with fork, push moistened section off to the side.

Repeat above until all the mixture is moistened. Divide in half and form each into a ball.

On a lightly floured surface flatten one ball then roll to a 12 inch circle

Transfer to pie plate

Roll other ball on lightly floured surface. Place on top of pie with slits, put in another dish, cut out shapes or make a lattice top.

Crimp edges around plate before baking
