Split Pea Soup
Serve with a ham sandwich made with chewy bread and you’ll think your in Holland.
ingredients
- 1 lb. dry split green peas
- 1 meaty ham bone or ham hocks
- 1 cup minced celery
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp. black pepper
directions

1.) Rinse and sort dry peas.

2.) In soup pan or dutch oven, put peas with 2 quarts of water.

3.) Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and bring to simmer.

4.) Add ham bone, celery, carrot, onion, and black pepper.

5.) Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hour until peas are tender / mushy.

6.) Remove ham bone.

7.) Remove meat from bone and chop meat into small pieces. Return to soup.

8.) Serve with chewy bread.
