This sauce will keep ut to 3 days in the refrigerator or 3 months in the freezer.

ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. capers, drained
  • Shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Hot cooked pasta or rice
  • 1/4 cup snipped fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley
  • 3 28-oz. cans diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup pitted kalamata olives, halved
  • 1/4 cup pitted kalamata olives, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. anchovy paste
  • 1/2 of a 6-oz. can (1/3 cup) tomato paste
  • 1 lb. fresh or frozen cooked shrimp, thawed, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
