The best meatballs for spaghetti
These meatballs are amazing. The recipe originated in a firehouse in New York. It has been tweeked a bit to my liking.
ingredients
- 2 pounds of lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 pound ground veal
- 2 cups of seasoned italian breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup italian flat leafed parsley
- 3/4 cup romano cheese
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 cup sweet vidalia onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- additional salt and pepper to taste
- Makes about 50 meatballs
directions
Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients by hand. Form meatballs by rolling them in your hands, making them just a little larger than a golf ball. Using a light oil, brown meatballs on all sides in a nonstick frying pan. Place all of the browned meatballs on a flat baking pan and bake them for 15 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees. When cut in half, meatballs should be moist and brown throughout.
