Margaret's Chili
We used to have this chili when we’d go down to Langdon on Saturday nights. Long after we all grew up and moved away, Margaret started making this for Christmas Eve dinner. There couldn’t have been a better choice for a special meal! The only thing missing in later years was Dean and of course Dawg with the sound of his thumping tail on the floor.
ingredients
- 1 brick chili
- 1 303 can beans
- 1/3 can water
- 2 t. chili powder
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/4 t. cayenne
- Big dash of black pepper
- 1 T. brown sugar
- 1/4 t. Worcestershire sauce
- Scant 1/4 t. orange peel
- 1/8 c. hot ketchup
- 1/8 t. curry powder
- 3/4# ground beef
directions
If you do just 1 brick, use red kidney beans. If you do two bricks, use kidney beans and red beans.
notes
Margaret advises doing 3 bricks of chili so that you can get the best bean mixture: 1 can red beans, 1 can red kidney beans & 1 can chili hot beans.
