Margaret's Savory Beef
ingredients
- 3 T. fat
- 2 lbs round steak or chuck roast (can use deer)
- 3 T. flour
- 1 t. salt
- 1/4 t. black pepper
- 1/4 t. ground cloves
- 1/4 t. thyme or summer savory
- 1 can beef stock
- 2 T. vinegar
- 1 T. catsup

Cut meat into serving pieces and brown in fat.

Mix flour and dry seasonings, then sprinkle over meat. Combine stock, vinegar and catsup, and pour over meat. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Before serving make Bisquick dumplings and cook on top of meat mixture, or fix pasta or rice to pour extra sauce over.
notes
Mom doubles the amount of liquid.
