CandiCandi

I got the base for this idea from 101 Cookbooks and we tried them one night, with a few changes. For example, we left out the tofu! To our surprise, they taste like boiled peanuts. The guys eat them like popcorn.

ingredients

  • 1 can Garbanzo Beans or the equivalent of fresh, cooked ones
  • 2 teaspoons rough, kosher sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 healthy shake garlic powder
  • 1 healthy shake onion powder
  • 1 healthy shake ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • 2 squirts lemon juice
  • 1 shake balsamic vinegar
  • Freshly cracked black pepper

directions

  • 1

Boil the Garbanzos (Chickpeas) until they are heated through. Do not add salt or seasoning. Drain.

  • 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or in a small wok. Crack in pepper and pour in the beans. Stir them frequently to keep them from sticking and add everything but the lemon juice. Fry them until they are getting brown in spots and crunchy. Just before you remove them from the pan, add the lemon juice and stir.

  • 3

Serve still hot or cool and eat like popcorn.

notes

These taste equally good smashed in with mashed potatoes!
