Chinese-Style Green Beans
Quick and easy vegetable dish
ingredients
- 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dark oriental sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon ginger root

1. Place beans in a vegetable steamer basket in a large pot over boiling water. Cover tightly and steam 6 min, or until crisp-tender. Cook under cold running water. Drain.

2. Mix soy sauce, water, cornstarch, sugar, sesame oil and crushed red pepper in a small bowl until the cornstarch is well blended.

3. Heat vegetable oil in a large Dutch over, pot or wok over medium high heat.

4. Add beans and stir fry 3 min, or until beans are very hot and start to char in spots. Add garlic and gingerroot. Continue stir frying 2 min.

5. Pour in soy sauce mixture. Toss beans constantly 1 min, until beans are evenly coated and glazed.
