Totally creamy, off the wall macaroni and cheese! A blend of three cheeses, sour cream with a little “kick”... a little somethin’ somethin’!

ingredients

  • 3 small boxes of elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chicken soup base
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup Fontina cheese, grated
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • crushed potato chips for topping; bbq, sour cream and onion, cheddar and sour cream... your choice! Any flavor... experiment, but the chips are that something special!

directions

  • 1

Cook and drain the elbow macaroni.

  • 2

In sauce pan melt the butter. Add the flour and cook one minute. Slowly add the milk. Add the cream and continue to cook. Add more milk if sauce gets too thick.

  • 3

Add the hot sauce and spices. Add the sour cream and cook until thickened.

  • 4

Put macaroni in greased casserole dish. Pour Cheese sauce over the top of the macaroni. Add crushed chips and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes until heated through.

notes

If you want to get a little crazy, you can always add real bacon bits and even diced Roma tomatoes to the macaroni and cheese!
