Chocolate Buttercream Cherries

Makes 48 candies

ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cherries with stems
  • 1/4 cup(1/2 stick)butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Hersheys cocoa
  • 1-2 Tbsp. milk, divided
  • 1/2 tsp.vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 2/3 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 1/2 tbsp. vegtable oil

    1. Cover tray with wax paper. Lightly press cherries between layers of paper towels to remove excess moisture.

    2. Beat butter, sugar,cocoa and 1 tbsp. milk in small bowl until well blended; stir in vanilla and almond extract. If neede, add remaining milk, 1 tsp at a time,until mixture will hold together but is not wet.

    3. Mold scant tsp. mixture around each cherry, covering completely; place on prepared tray,refrigerate until firm.

    5.About 1 hour before serving,melt white chips with 2 tbsp oil until melted and smooth. Dip chilled cherries in mixture until covered.

    6. Melt chocolate chips with oil until smooth and drizzle over cherries with tines of fork. Store in refrigerator.
