Chinese Pepper Steak with Mushrooms
ingredients
- 1 Lb. Tenderized Round Steak
- 6 Peppers, seeded and cut into long strips
- 2 Cans Sliced Mushrooms
- 2 Onions sliced
- 1 Garlic Clove, minced
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tsp. Ginger
- 1 tsp. Pepper (black)
- 3 Cups Beef Bullion – Can also use 3 Cups water with 3 tsp. of beef granules.
- 6 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
- 4 Tbsp. Corn Starch
directions
- 1
Cut round steak into thin strips and brown meat in 2 teaspoons of Canola or Olive Oil. The thinner the strips the less time it takes to cook - slicing while only partially defrosted makes it easier to get it sliced thin.
- 2
In a preheated skillet, combine Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms and Garlic. Cook until nearly done.
- 3
In a bowl, add salt, pepper, ginger, bullion, soy sauce and cornstarch. Stir to dissolve cornstarch.
- 4
When meat and peppers are done, add meat to the peppers and onion mixture. Stir in the soy sauce / cornstarch mixture. Bring to a boil stirring constantly until sauce is thickened.
- 5
Serve over rice or noodles.
notes
I never liked the peppers growing up so I never liked this meal. Now that I've grown older, I use red peppers and I feel like I had no idea what I was missing!
