Sweet Potato Casserole
This recipe is from Marguerite’s best friend. It was always served on Christmas Eve when the families were together.
ingredients
- 2 cups cooked & mashed sweet potatoes
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 stick butter
- 1 cup milk or 1/2 cup milk if using canned sweet potatoes
- 1/2 t. nutmeg (opt.)
- 1/2 t. cinnamon
directions

Cook sweet potatoes with peeling. Remove from heat and cool. Peel and mash. Mix remaining ingredients together and add to sweet potatoes. Place in greased casserole dish.

Bake for 400° for 30 minutes.
Topping
- 1
3/4 cup corn flakes
- 2
1/2 cup nuts
- 3
1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4
3/4 stick butter
- 5
Mix all ingredients together until mixture resembles crumbs.

Place on top of cooked sweet potato casserole and return to oven for another 20 minutes
