CHICKEN A LA KING
GREAT FOR CHICKEN OR TURKEY LEFT OVERS. ONCE AGAIN IT IS AN OLD FASHIONED RECIPE.
ingredients
- 1 can (4 oz) mushroom stems and pieces drained but with reserved liquid
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp instant chicken bouillon
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 c. cut up cooked chicken or turkey
- 1 jar pimentos (I don’t love them but Bob does and it makes it pretty)
- Toast
directions
Cook and stir mushrooms and celery in margarine over med. heat 5 minutes; remove from heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly; remove from heat. Stir in bouillon, milk, water, and reserved mushroom liquid. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in chicken and pimento; heat through. Serve over toast
