Czech Gulash, a recipe from my friend Megan.

  • 2 pounds stewing beef
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • Dash of pepper
  • Pinch of marjoram
  • 6 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 2 cups of water


Fry onion until it’s soft. Add the paprika and meat and let brown. Add seasonings and 1/2 cup of water. Cover and simmer until tender adding more water as it evaporates. When meat is done, uncover and let all liquid evaporate. Dust with flour and stir until brown. Add 1 cup more water. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer.
