Gingerbread House
ingredients
- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. cloves
- 2/3 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. cooking oil
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- Royal Icing
- 3 egg white
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tarter

Mix thoroughly and chill overnight. Place dough on an oiled piece of foil and roll it into a rectangle ~10“ x 16”. Leave the rectangle on the foil and place it on a cookie sheet. Bake at 300° for 20-30 minutes. Place pattern on hot bread and cut with sharp knife immediately.

Place gingerbread (still on cookie sheet) back in the oven until it is bone dry. The harder it is, the less likely it will be to break.

Beat ingredients thoroughly in mixing bowl until icing stands in peaks. Keep bowl covered at all times with a damp cloth. This icing dries quickly, and it becomes very hard.
