Banana Coffee Cake

ingredients
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp backing soda
- 1 cup chopped pecans (or your favorite nut)
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
directions
In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the bananas and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Combine topping ingredients; add half to the batter. Transfer to a greased 13-in x 9 in-in x 2-in backing pan. Sprinkle with the remaining topping. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
