Barbara gave me this recipe. It is one that Auntie Jenny used to make. It reminds me of the recipes our Moms used to make in the 1960s.

ingredients

  • 3 lb chuck roast, about 2 inches thick
  • (or substitute london broil, cross rib roast, whatever is on sale)
  • 2 Tbsp A-1 Steak Sauce
  • 1 envelope dehydrated onion soup mix
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

directions

Place the roast in the center of extra wide, heavy foil in a roasting pan. You might have to fold 2 pieces together to make one big one. Brush the meat with A-1 Steak Sauce and sprinkle the onion soup mix over it. Then spread with cream of mushroom soup. Wrap loosely in foil and bake at 350° for 2 1/2 - 3 hours.
