Dirty Shrimp

ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb large easy-peel shrimp
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2teaspoons black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice

    Toss the shrimp, with shells intact, in oil, garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon salt and marinate at room temperature for 15 minutes.

    Heat butter, chili powder, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring, until butter is melted, then remove from heat and add lemon juice.

    Thread 4-5 shrimp, with shells intact, on wooden skewers and grill over medium hot heat 3-4 minutes total or 6 inches below broiler for 6 minutes total.

    Remove shells and toss in butter mixture.
