EXCELLENT ITALIAN LASAGNE
There’s Lasagna and then there’s LASAGNE !!!
ingredients
Pasta:- 1 1lb. lasagna noodles
- 12oz. (or more) Mozzarella cheese
- 1 lb. cottage cheese
- 3 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp. parsley, chopped
- 1 lb. ground chuck (beef)
- 1/2 lb. Polish sausage
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup finely diced celery
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 (16oz.) can tomatoes, drained
- 1 (10oz.) can tomato puree
- 1 (16oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4oz.) can mushrooms, drained
- 1/2 (10 1/2oz.) can beef consomme
- 1/3 cup red cooking wine
- 1 tsp. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. garlic salt

Brown the meats in olive oil for 10 minutes, then add onions, celery and garlic. Cover and steam for 5 minutes, then add tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato sauce, mushrooms, consomme, wine, soy sauce and seasonings. Simmer for 30 minutes.

Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain.

Grease a 13x9“ pan and an 8x8” pan. Put in layer of noodles, then meat sauce, then Mozzarella cheese, then cottage cheese, then noodles again and continue these layers until there are 3 or more of each. Top with Parmesan and parsley. Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
