Leo Baeck's Salad
ingredients
- 1/2 large box of salad greens
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1pt. strawberries
- 1-2 kiwis, sliced
- 1 can mandarin oranges
- Dressing:
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp (or less) white sugar
- 3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Pepper to taste
- Dash of Tabasco
- 2 Tbsp sesame seeds
- Candied almonds:
- 3 Tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 cup slivered blanched almonds

Dressing: Combine all ingredients, adding sugar to taste depending on the sweetness of the balsamic vinegar. Shake in closed jar. Set aside.

Candied Almonds: Heat sugar in a fry pan on low heat. Once sugar melts, quickly add almonds and stir. Remove from heat and immediately transfer almonds from pan onto plate lined with wax paper. Separate candied almonds as much as possible before completely cooled.

Combine all salad ingredients in a medium bowl. Top with candied almonds. Add dressing to taste.
