• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/4 cup light corn syrup
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp nutmeg or lemon oil (optional, your choice)
• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 large egg
• 2 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
• 1/4 cup coarse or granulated sugar, for coating
