Chicken Tortellini Bake
This is a Laws family favorite.
ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Margarine or Butter
- 1/4 lb. Mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 c. Chopped Onion
- 1 clove Garlic, minced
- 1/4 c. Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 2 1/4 c. Milk
- 1 1/2 c. Shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb. Chicken, cooked and cubed
- 1 c. Peas, thawed
- 1 lb. Fresh Tortellini
- Silver Almonds or Durkee Onion rings
- You can substitute broccoli for peas.
- For the chicken breasts, you can put them in skillet, cover with water and simmer until they are cooked. I sometimes do this a few hours before I make the dish to cut back on the preparation time at dinner.

Heat oven at 350 degrees.

Melt margarine/butter in skillet.

Add mushrooms, onions, and garlic; sauté.

Stir in flour and seasonings.

Gradually add milk; stir constantly until boils and thickens.

Add cheeses; cook until melted.

Stir in chicken, tortellini and peas.

Pour into 9x13 in. baking dish. Sprinkle with almonds or onion rings. Cook for 30 minutes.
