Meatballs
Grandma describes these as “excellent.”
ingredients
- 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 2 slices white bread, soaked in water and squeezed dry
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg
- pinch nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 can beef broth
- 1 can chicken broth
- 1/4 tsp. thyme

Combine first 7 ingredients. Make balls. Roll in flour. Heat 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil and brown 1/2 balls at a time.Add additional oil if necessary and brown remaining meatballs. Take browned meatballs out of pan and set aside. Add broths to the pan. Return meatballs to the pan and cook about 1 hour slowly.

For gravy, remove meatballs and add thyme and nutmeg to drippings.
