Black Magic Cake

A delicious treat that can only be credited by “Black Magic”. Worth the extra effort!

  • Mix together sifted flour, cocoa powder,

  • baking soda, baking powder, and salt, set aside.

  • In a separate bowl, combine brewed coffee,

  • sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla.

  • Alternate mixing together ⅓ of the dry ingredients,

  • ⅓ of the wet ingredients and ⅓ of the milk,

  • repeat in thirds until all mixed, no need to over beat.

  • This batter is very runny so I line my pans

  • with buttered parchment paper,

  • using a larger piece than the pan

  • and clamp it in the excess paper sticking

  • out on the outside of the pan.

  • This helps hold the batter into the pans.

  • The first time I made this cake the batter leaked

  • out of the spring form pans and all over the bottom of the oven.

  • Pour into buttered and parchment paper lined 2 – 9” spring form pans

  • Bake 300° 45min. turn half way thru baking

  • Frosting

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 ½ Tbls Flour

  • Whisk in small pan over med. Heat till boiling, place pan in ice bath to cool.

  • Beat: ½ pound butter, 1 cup sugar, ½ cup cocoa till light in color (the longer the better)

  • Beat in flour mixture till it is the consistency of whipping cream. (don’t be in a hurry)

  • Layer together – Enjoy
