Gay's Anise Cookies

The day I met my Step-Mother was Christmas of 2007 in Charleston. She won all of our hearts with these cookies. I knew she was perfect for my dad, how could you go wrong with a woman that can make cookies this good?

ingredients

3 eggs
1 c sugar
2 c sifted cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbs crushed anise seed (I use a pepper mill)

directions

Beat eggs until light. Add sugar gradually and beat for 45 minutes more. Mix and sift flour and baking powder. Add anise seed. Fold gently into the egg mixture. Drop by teaspoon 1 1/2 inches apart on greased and floured cookie sheets. Let stand uncovered overnight. Bake 10-15 minutes at 350. Cool on sheets. Store tightly covered 2-3 weeks.
