Scalloped Potatoes
Katherine remembers making these with Grandma.
ingredients
- 3 lbs. all-purpose potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
- 2 Tbs all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk, warmed
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Place a single layer of potatoes in a buttered glass 9 x 13 dish. Sprinkle 1 TBS flour over potatoes. Sprinkle 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 pepper over flour. Add another layer of potatoes, flour and salt and pepper.

Pour milk over entire mixture. Cover with foil and cook for 1- 1-1/2 hours, until potatoes are fork tender. Remove foil the last 1/2 hour and add 1 cup grated cheese.

Optional: Add thinly sliced onions between layers.
