Cathy's Basic Bread
ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 1/2 tsp. yeast
- 1 tsp. brown sugar
- 1 cup soy milk (plain or vanilla)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3/4 cup cool water
- 2 cups bread flour
- 3 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 1 Tbsp. AP flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast and brown sugar; stir. Let sit 15 minutes.

Scald soy milk. Add oil and honey; stir. Add cool water; stir. Add yeast mixture; stir. Stir in remaining ingredients. Let rise.

Place dough in 2 prepared loaf pans. Bake 30 minutes.

Remove from the oven and butter the loaves. Let sit at least 2 hours before serving.
