Swedish Meatballs
ingredients
- For the Meatballs:
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup light cream
- 1 egg
- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 lb. ground pork
- 2 Tbsp. fresh dill
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. sugar

For the Meatballs:

In a large bowl, combine onion, water, cream and egg; let stand a few minutes. Add ground beef, pork, salt, pepper, sugar and other spices; stir until mixed thoroughly. Chill, then form into very small meatballs.

Melt butter in a large frying pan; add meatballs. Cook meatballs through.

NOTE: The recipe Mike’s mom gave us calls for 1/3 cup fine dry breadcrumbs. She crossed it out. But if you want to use it. Add them to the water, cream, onion & egg mixture & let sit 10 minutes before proceeding.

Serve with IKEA gravy, lingonberry sauce and boiled potatoes or spaetzl.
