Makes 1 large loaf pan, or 2 small loaf pans

Nana would make this bread to give to friends and neighbors at Christmas. Aunt Barbara also submitted this recipe and noted that “as I wrote down these recipes memories of my dear mother and Nana Mac come flooding back -- How blessed we were!”

ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 large can evaporated milk
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

directions

Combine all ingredients, fill greased loaf pans. Let sit on top of stove for 20 minutes. Bake at 325-350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Test to see if done. Fills 1 big loaf pan, or two small loaf pans.
