Shrimp Chowder
This is a great slow cooker recipe that we enjoy when its cold outside.
ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 tsp. butter
- 2 cans (12 oz each) Evaporated milk
- 2 cans (10.75 oz. each) condensed cream of potato soup
- 2 cans (10.75 oz. each) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 can (11 oz.) white or shoe peg corn
- 1 tsp. creole seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 Lbs. cooked Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 pkg. (3 oz.) cream cheese, cubed
- 4 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
directions
In a small skillet saute onion until tender. In a 5 quart slow cooker combine onions, milk, soups, corn,creole seasoning and garlic powder. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours. Stir in shrimp and cream cheese. Cook for 30 minutes longer or until shrimp are heated through and cream cheese is melted. Stir to blend. Garnish with bacon and may add cream sherry if desired as well.
