ingredients

  • 3 C all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C finely chopped fresh chives
  • 2 C grated sharp cheddar cheese (firmly packed)
  • 2 C heavy cream

directions

    Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a medium size mixing bowl. Add chives and cheddar cheese and mix until flour coats the cheese. Stir the cream into the flour mixture with a fork until well blended.

    Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead dough 8 times with floured hands. Cut dough in half and form each half into a 7 inch round. Cut each round into 8 wedges and place wedges on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush the top of each scone with extra cream. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes (or until golden brown) and cool on rack.
