Davis Family Chili (red)
This Chili recipe is a dressed-up version of Margaret’s. It’s much better the second day.
ingredients
Chili ingredients- 2 lbs. ground round
- 1 large white onion, chopped
- Dash of olive oil
- 1 can tomato sauce (small)
- 1 can tomato soup
- 1 can tomato juice
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 cans Bush kidney beans (dark red)
- 1 can Bush kidney beans (red)
- 1 Tsp. sugar
- 3 Tsp. chili powder
- 1 Tsp. white pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sour cream
- Cheddar cheese (shredded)
- Green onion
- Frito’s

Plug in crockpot, turn heat to high.

In a skillet, saute onions in a dash of olive oil. Allow them to carmelize. Set aside. In the same skillet, brown meat. Drain all excess fat. Place onions in crock pot with meat and the rest of the ingredients. Leave on high one hour, then turn on low for up to seven additional hours. Stir occasionally.
notes
This is a very thick chili. Keeps well in the refrigerator for several days. Does not freeze well.
