Thanksgiving Noodles

These noodles were always a staple on my grandparents table at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Grandmother taught Cherry how to make them and she continues the tradition in her family and Mary taught her granddaughters, Lisa and Sierra, to make them a few years ago and they continue to make them in her family too. Everyone clamors to get more!

  • 2 cups self-rising flour

  • 2 beaten eggs

  • water

  • Broth:

  • 1 whole chicken

  • water

  • Cook chicken until done in water to make a broth. Cover and set in refriegerator overnight. Remove the fat from the chicken broth and heat broth until broth boils turning down some to a simmer.

  • Mix the flour and eggs together and add 2 half egg shells of water making a dough.

  • Roll dough out very very thin. Roll dough up into a roll and slice dough into thin strips. Be sure to coat good in flour.

  • Lay dough out on a towel and cover with another towel and let sit for ½ hour.

  • Drop into hot chicken broth.
