Holly used this recipe for her 4-H beef demonstration during the summer of 2008. She was selected to go to the Missouri State Fair and perform the demonstration at the Missouri Beef Council Beef Showcase, where she placed 2nd and won a $75 prize. She also appeared on Chariton Valley TV demonstrating this recipe.

ingredients

  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 2 pkg. brown gravy mix
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

directions

  • 1

    •Combine beef, 1 package gravy mix, onion, water, onion powder and garlic powder in a mixing bowl

  • 2

    •Shape into 6 patties and brown in a skillet cooking to 160 degrees

  • 3

    •Drain grease and put in baking dish

  • 4

    •Mix gravy mix and 2 cups hot water

  • 5

    •Pour over beef patties

  • 6

    •Cook in oven at 425 degrees

  • 7

    When gravy starts to boil, continue to cook 10 additional minutes until done.
