Apple -Cream Cheese Torte

Great dessert in the fall when apples are at their best - must be served first day!

  • CRUST;

  • Cream together margarine, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour; mix well. Pat dough onto bottom and about 1 inch up the sides of a 10 inch spring form pan. Crust will be very thin.

  • FILLING:

  • Cream together cream cheese and ¼ cup sugar. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth. Pour into prepared spring form pan. Combine ⅓ cup sugar and cinnamon; toss apples with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Spoon or arrange over cream cheese layer; sprinkle with almonds if desired.

  • Bake a 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees F and continue baking for 35 minutes, until apples are tender. Cool before removing rim of pan. Serve immediatiely.

TOTAL TIME: 1 hr 30 minutes
