Yule Kage
This was a favorite of theirs
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add all ingredients except half the flour. Mix with a spoon until smooth. Add rest of flour until easy to handle by hand. Turn onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic. Round up in greased bowl; cover and let rise until double in size about 1½ hours. Could take longer.
Punch down and let rise again about another 45 minutes. Shape into round loaf; place in greased 8 or 9 inch round pan. Cover and let rise (45 min.). Brush with egg yolk glaze. Bake until brown.
350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.
